Brendan Borek loved life, and life it seemed, loved Brendan. An avid surfer, gifted artist, and an agile soccer player, his teenage years mirrored life at its fullest.
Diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma (cancer of the bone) at 16, he vied against death with courage and dignity until the disease claimed him in December 1991.
Because Brendan touched the
hearts of many, the Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial Fund, Inc. (Brendan’s Fund) was established in 1992 by his family and friends. Visit the About Us section to find out more.
Mrs. Dean’s 2013 Kindergarten Class
A great big thank you to Mrs. Dean’s Kindergarten Class of 2013. They have raised $130.42 from there Penny Drive for Brendan’s Fund. This is the largest amount raised to date from our littlest donors. Congratulations!
Our 8th Annual Golf Tournament for Brendan’s Fund was held on Saturday May 4, 2013 at the Avalon Golf Club. A special thank you to Lisa Sylvester and her volunteers who coordinated the event. Our thanks also to the Avalon Golf Club and Staff for helping us with all details of running the event and the dinner. Their combined efforts helped to raise over $8,000 gross for Brendan’s Fund.

The 3rd Annual 2013 Low Tide Beach Ride will be held on Saturday July 13, 2013. All will assemble at 6:30 PM.The race will begin at the jetty and continue to the 32nd Street Pier and back. This year’s “Artists & Friends Art Show” will be held on Tuesday July 30, 2012. The Avalon Yacht Club, at 7th & The Bay, Avalon, will once again host our event. This is always a beautiful event with the 50 % of the sale of the artwork going to benefit Brendan’s Fund.
