The web-site for the 2nd Annual High Tides Striper Tournament is up and running. To register for this year’s event go to http://hightidesstripertournament.com. The site, designed by Joe Taylor of Sites by Joe, has all the tournament information, including the captain’s meeting, locations, times and prize money. 6th Annual Cape Fitness Turkey Trot

The 6th annual Cape Fitness Turkey Trot will once again be held on Thanksgiving morning at Cape Fitness in West Cape May, proceeds benefit Brendan’s Fund. The 5k run/walk will begin at 9:00am, registration is from 8:00-9:00am. Runners and walkers can pre-register by calling (609-898-1515) or stopping by Cape Fitness located at 600 Park Blvd, West Cape May. The entry fee for pre-registration is $18, race day registration is $20. All pre-registered participants are guaranteed a shirt in the size requested. Come out on Thanksgiving morning and “get fit before you feast”.

2nd Annual Striped Bass Tournament to benefit Brendan’s Fund scheduled

The 2nd Annual Striped Bass Tournament to benefit Brendan’s Fund has been scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2008. The tournament is being organized once again by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union #1743 of Cape May County. Off The Hook Bait and Tackle at Hinch Marina has agreed to serve as the weigh-in station. The awards dinner will be held at the Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club. Prize money is as follows: 1st place-$3000, 2nd place-$1000, 3rd place-$500, 4th place-$400, 5th place-$300. All prize money will be awarded at the awards dinner. Tickets are $50 each. Brendan Borek Week Events

What a wonderful fun-filled week of laughter, energy, friendship, love and tears. Thank you to all who made our week of events successful and enjoyable. We would be unable to carry on without our dedicated volunteers and support from the Avalon community.

Our restaurant events at Sylvester’s, Circle Pizza and Fishin’ Pier Grille were well attended, supporters waited in line to dine out for Brendan’s Fund. There were over 40 artists who participated in this year’s Artists and Friends Art Show and almost 400 persons attended. The attendees of movie night enjoyed two great new surf movies and many were recipients of valuable/fun door prizes. The skate jam was a terrific time for all who showed up to test their skills. Our 18th annual Surf Memorial was another successful event. The gorgeous day was a great backdrop for friends and family to come together to remember and celebrate life, and of course the Homecoming Party provided a perfect ending to a perfect day. Thank you again to all who helped and attended.
